This was a classic scenario of working with what you’ve got to make absolute magic. If you know Nashville, you know it’s not necessarily the west coast. While there’s beautiful hills and sunsets, there’s not a crazy variety of landscape to work with. My best friend Sophia and I were driving around Nashville when we found this massive salt mound in a construction site. My brain instantly starting thinking of all the cool things we could shoot in front of it. So that weekend, while on vacation, I asked Sophia to model for me and we came up with this concept for an editorial shoot.

At this point in her life, Sophia was going through a journey of healing, so we wanted this shoot to represent a new her. The words that came to mind were,

clean

redeemed

strong

healthy

unafraid

boundless

It felt like we had found a different planet, a new space to create. She wore all white to represent being wiped clean. Out with the old and in with the new, whatever that may be.

I also want to give a huge shoutout to the queen behind this makeup look, Erika of Oh Darling Artistry. I sent her a vision board and she brought it all to life perfectly. If you’re needing wedding makeup or any makeup for that matter, she’s definitely your girl!! And of course, thank you to my best friend Sophia for being my model. You are truly my favorite person and i’m so proud of you.
