This intimate garden wedding at Villa Francesca Events in La Jolla was everything that makes my heart burst. From the colorful florals and elegant tablescape, to the lush greenery surrounding the gardens, and the intimacy and intentionality held among Ali and Scott and their loved ones. It was the kind of day that allowed you to slow down, take it all in, and just be present with those you love most. And the villa was truly the perfect place to host it.
Which is why I chose to capture this day mostly on film. An intentional day calls for an intentional medium, which is exactly why I fell in love with film in the first place. It captured the San Diego light in a way that I don’t think digital could live up to. All of this is unedited, straight from camera. Because I believe film is beautiful and timeless just the way it is.
After their ceremony we hopped in a convertible and drove a whole five minutes to La Jolla Cove for their couple portraits. The birds greeted us and danced around Ali and Scott while they took in the ocean views. we had a whole cliff to ourselves. Just us and the birds. And the bird poop, but we’ll ignore that detail for now.
After their portraits, Scott and Ali headed back to the house where they greeted their closest family and friends for cocktail hour. Everything was so personal, like the incredible charcuterie board made by Ali’s cousin and the music by Scott’s. Speaking of personal touches, after dinner Ali and Scott cut the cake made by Scotts daughter (who is also the sweetest thing i’ve ever met). They had her cut the cake with them, which solidified their union as a family.
It was truly an honor to be a part of this timeless and intentional day. Thank you to Traces Collective for bringing me with her to San Diego to document it.
